I was at a loss as how to tackle the issue of the Gnostic gospels e.g. gospel of Thomas, Philip, Judas…John’s book very helpfully covers all the sources of information we have on Jesus both from the bible and outside the bible. He puts it together in a concise and easy to read way and he covers the Gnostic gospels which have been in the media and Dan Brown’s book The Da Vinci Code. I now have a big picture view of all Jesus sources and can now tackle individual sources i.e. the Gnostic Gospels - no problems.
