A new staff appointment, and Vision 2014 nights
I want to share with you two important and exciting pieces of news – for your information and prayers.
Appointment of Andy Pearce to the ministry team for 2014
You may be aware that we’ve been seeking to appoint an additional assistant minister for the past 3 years (approved in our budget since 2011). I am delighted to announce that Andy Pearce will be joining our ministry team in 2014 in the role of ‘Maturity Pastor’. Andy is known to and loved by many of us (especially at Sat night church, where he has been a student minister). He is married to Kim and they have 3 boys (Jonny, Dexter & Artie), with a 4th child due in early Feb. Andy has just finished 3 years of theological training at Moore College. Prior to college he worked in the advertising industry (focusing on digital marketing) for 10 years (and Kim’s background is the fashion industry). From comments of others, Andy is loved for his ‘passion for Jesus’, ‘just being a real & normal & good bloke!’, his concern to see people read their Bibles and live for Jesus, and his humour!
The role of ‘Maturity Pastor’ is a cross-congregational specialized role, focusing on re-thinking our small groups & other structures to facilitate discipleship & spiritual maturity. So the majority of Andy’s time will be spent pastoring & discipling & equipping small group leaders and future leaders, as well as discipling people in 1:1s and providing opportunities for theological learning & grappling with real life issues! Our deep desire as a church is to make disciples of Jesus (not just converts); that is people who trust Jesus as their Saviour but are also striving more and more to live with him as their Lord. So please do pray for Andy & Kim (and the boys) as they settle into this new role
Vision 2014 Night
These evenings (Tues 26th & Wed 27th) are so important for our church family. We’ll be presenting to our church our vision for what we prayerfully desire church to focus on in 2014. This will include information about the specific responsibilities of our staff team, an explanation of a variety of different ministry opportunities (some new, some revised, some same), news of future church plants and our 2014 budget. Our desire is to be transparent, to excite and empower people, to help our church see the potential for mission and for maturity, and to provide a forum for genuine questions and dialogue.
So please do come along at 8pm on either Tues or Wed nights (or Tues morning for the Women’s connect). And please pray for our leadership team – as ever, when we are seeking to honour God and proclaim the gospel and grow disciples of Jesus, the spiritual attack is greatest. We crave your prayers for protection and for humility.
With ongoing love & prayer
Paul Dale (Senior Pastor)
