HiveLife

HiveLife is a series of courses that happen in May and October. The purpose of HiveLife is to train and equip members of Chrurch by the Bridge biblically and practically to live for Jesus and love like Jesus. Regular HiveGroups are paused and we gather cross-congregational groups for an indepth look at a particular subject. There is no charge HiveLife, but we do ask that you pre-register and you commit to coming for the 3 weeks. This is what we’ll be doing in the Hive Life Courses.

Regular HiveGroups will pause and we will gather in cross-congregational groups for an indepth look at a particular subject. There is no charge for HiveLife, but we do ask that you pre-register and you commit to coming to all the sessions.

Here's a description of what's on offer...

Christians & the Big Conversation (Wed)

Presented by: Dan Anderson

How do you have a constructive conversation with a friend about a complex social or political question when you know that you’ll probably disagree? How do Christians engage in the public sphere on these topics? In these seminars we’ll tackle the question of how to think more clearly about social and political issues from within a biblical framework and we’ll workshop together strategies for engaging creatively with our family, friends and colleagues around these questions.

Financial Stewardship (Tues)

Presented by: Scott Sanders

Jesus said “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Matthew 5:24) What does the Bible say about money? What should our attitude be towards money? How much should we give away, and to whom? And what does God want us to do with the money we have? Over 2 weeks we will look at what the Bible has to say and pull it together practically by thinking through our generosity, how to prepare a budget, talk about debt, buying vs renting a home and other key topics.

Loving the Elderly (Wed)

Presented by: Francis Chalwell

Opportunities to reach older people with the gospel of Jesus abound and are expanding. In 2007 the proportion of Australians aged 65 or over was 13% of the population. By 2056 that proportion is predicted to almost double.

The first session of this HiveLife course will explore the ‘Why’ of ministry to the aged and look at the challenges and opportunities for service and evangelism among older people. The second session will cover the practice of appropriately and effectively deepening the spiritual significance of your connection with an older person.
