There are some people we see regularly, but don’t know very well. In fact, we may not even know their names. Take for example the barista at the cafe you go to each morning to get your flat white.
Introducing yourself is pretty straightforward:
“Hi I’m Steve [you can use your own name, or mine if you prefer]. Thanks for making my coffee.”
Introducing yourself is beneficial for several reasons:
- The world is a nicer place to live when we get to know the people we share our world with.
- The barista is recognised as a person, and not a coffee-making machine!
- The relationship is strengthened as you both learn each others names and relate on personal, not just commercial terms.
Tomorrow morning as you order your coffee, introduce yourself, and meet your barista.
