Reaching those we know: “I went to church”

6 September

On Monday mornings, you walk into the office (or wherever you work), and the conversation will very often go something like this:

Colleague: "How was your weekend?"

You: "Pretty swell".

Colleague: "What did you get up to?"

What do you say next? You might respond with:

"Not much",

"Dinner with friends", or

"Lunch with the folks for Fathers Day".

All of these are likely to be true! But next Monday, why not add an extra line that's also true:

"I went to church"

What's the worst that could happen in owning up to this?! In fact, as we continue to pray for the people we know, these four words could open up some very interesting conversations.

"Church, eh? How long have you been going there?"

"Why do you waste your weekends going to church?!"

"You believe in God? I used to, but then X happened and I gave up on God..."

"I've been wanting to go to church - could I come with you sometime?" (this actually happened!)

Monday mornings present a weekly opportunity for gospel conversations. Let's make the most of this time of the week in reaching those we know.
