Jesus speaks of money with alarming regularity & clarity.  Nowhere is he blunter than in Matthew 24v6 ‘You cannot serve both God & money’.  Our approach to money matters so much because handling cash is playing with our eternity.  As Luther put it: ‘Baptized or not, no greedy belly can be a Christian; but he has certainly lost Christ and has become a heathen. The two are intolerable to each other—being greedy or anxious, and being a believer—and one has to eliminate the other.’
 
Looking at the right jealousy of God, we see the dangers money poses our hearts as a false God.  If we really take Jesus at his word, we must actively resist money as a recipient of our trust, service & love.
