In Matthew 5-7, Jesus amazes his followers as he speaks as one with authority. In Matthew 8, Jesus demonstrates his authority extends beyond big talk - he has authority over creation. In this passage, Jesus' authority and compassion combine, and give us great hope for the healing we greatly need - for our physical afflictions, and sin - the disease of our soul.
