Building Project
In 2005, Church by the Bridge was established with a group of 42 people, with a single evening service.
Six years later, with six services including the recently established Lavender Bay congregation, the facilities at Church by the Bridge require an upgrade to keep pace with the expanding ministry, community and administrative needs, in support of God’s work in Kirribilli and beyond.
In anticipation of current and future needs, Church by the Bridge sought and was granted approval from North Sydney Council for a redevelopment of the church site to update core amenities and to provide more office space.
Overall, the redevelopment proposal included an upgrade of the church, hall, and hub (kitchen and restroom) facilities. A ‘link’ building was also proposed between the church and the hall to provide a focal point for visitors, members and the ministry team. The exterior brickwork of the church and hall is also in need of repair, along with improved landscaping.
Over the next few months, a consultation process with ministry leaders and church members will begin, focussing on how the approved plans fit the future operational needs of our church. A communication program highlighting the objectives and benefits of the redevelopment, how it fits within the longer term vision of church, and the fundraising needs, will also commence.
